¡Hola a todos! It's been a long time since I posted a blog...I know I know, what happened to me posting almost daily? O well things happen and I just forget to blog...that's life right? Since last time though I've had a lot of fun. Haven't done anything major, only been going out with friends a lot. The semester is quickly coming to an end, and one week from tomorrow is my last day of class!!!! WOW, where has the time gone??? I'm glad that the semester will be over and there won't be any more school work to worry about, but I am SOOOOO incredibly sad that the great people I have become friends with will be returning to their countries and we will be separated by thousands of miles. I have made some really great friends and I know I will cry when they leave, but I have faith that we will see each other again one day. On the bright side, it is only about 24 days until Nick comes to see me!!!! So incredibly excited to share my little slice of Mexican heaven with someone. I can tell a huge improvement in my Spanish skills since I first arrived, however I still need PLENTY of practice, so I have decided to take one on one Spanish conversation courses throughout the summer. So technically I will still be in school, but this type of school, hopefully, will be easier but will improve my speaking ability greatly. However, conversation classes are not the only "classes" I plan on taking this summer. My family has also promised to teach me all of their wonderful recipes, so that hopefully when I return to the U.S. I will be able to cook some really great Mexican food. The first thing I plan on doing when I get back is buying a tamale steamer and a tortilla press. When I first arrived in January I didn't really like tortillas so much, especially not the ones made from corn, but now I am literally addicted to them. Almost every day I eat around 4 or 5 tortillas and if I don't have them I crave them....I know this is sort of strange, but they're SOOO good. Apart from my "classes", I also plan on doing A LOT of traveling this summer. When Nick comes down we are planning on bumming around Mexico City for a few days and then coming back to Querétaro. From Querétaro I want to go to San Luis Potosi, which has beautiful waterfalls and underwater caves. Other than that I don't really have much planned for us, but there is so much to do here, I'm sure there won't be a dull moment. Then just around 1 and a half months after Nick leaves dad is coming down for around a week and a half. As of now we're planning on going to Oaxaca and Chiapas, which are 2 beautiful states in southern Mexico. So much to do, so little time.
To everyone back home, I miss and love you all so much. Having a great time in Mexico and loving and living life to the fullest!!!! Only 1 week between me and the freedom of summer!!! Will probably post after mine and Nick's adventures! Check back at the beginning of June! ¡Hasta luego!
